Seamless integration

Integration with clinical systems

Qpath uses industry-standard DICOM and HL7 interfaces to connect every step of the POCUS workflow with hospital systems, eliminating manual data entry and keeping images and reports properly routed without leaving the point-of-care environment.

  • HL7 ADT, orders, results, billing
  • DICOM worklist, PACS/VNA
  • LDAP Active Directory sign-on

How it connects

One workflow across your hospital systems

Patient demographics, orders, images and reports flow between Qpath and the systems you already run.

Into Qpath

  • ADT-based patient demographics pre-populate worklists on ultrasound machines
  • Ultrasound orders received or generated via HL7 drive the DICOM modality worklist
  • Images acquired directly from any DICOM-capable scanner
  • Users authenticate with their existing Active Directory credentials

Out of Qpath

  • Clinically indicated exams pushed to PACS/VNA over DICOM, with training exams filtered out
  • Completed reports sent to the EMR via HL7 as structured text or PDF
  • A one-click Qpath hyperlink embedded in the patient chart for direct access
  • Billing data captured throughout the process for accurate charge capture

Interfaces

Qpath interfaces with hospital systems

InterfaceProtocolWhat it does
Active DirectoryLDAPA more secure way to manage Qpath authentication: users sign in with their existing credentials and access is managed by IT
ADT (admit, discharge and transfer)HL7Reduces data entry on the ultrasound system when not ordering exams, works with a barcode scanner, and updates the exam record when demographics change
Worklist (Qlist)HL7 / DICOMThe Qlist DICOM modality worklist drives orders to the ultrasound system, or lets you order the exam after it is complete
Ultrasound ordersHL7Receives an ultrasound order and pushes it to the ultrasound system, simplifying data entry at the bedside
QviewHTTP / HTTPSA web browser interface between the ultrasound system and Qpath: complete and approve the exam report on the ultrasound system
PACS / VNADICOMTransfer and archive clinical and billable exams to PACS, manually or by approving the exam report, and share them with other departments
EMRHL7Transfers exam results to the electronic patient chart as formatted text or PDF, with a link back to the exam in Qpath; compatible with any EMR that supports an HL7 results interface

Enterprise solution for POCUS workflow

Encounter based use case

Qpath
EMR US system + Qview PACS Billing
  1. 1Patient is registered in a hospital EMR system. Patient demographics is sent to Qpath (HL7 messages).
  2. 2Qpath sends patient demographics to US modality work list.
  3. 3Provider selects patient from MWL and performs an exam. Images are sent to Qpath.
  4. 4Provider opens Qpath, completes exam report and e-signs.
  5. 5Qpath recognizes exam is: clinically indicated, billable, approved, and automatically sends a request for ultrasound order to EMR. EMR creates an order and sends accession number to Qpath.
  6. 6Qpath transfers exam report to patient chart in EMR and exam images to PACS.
  7. 7Billing charges are initiated either by EMR or Qpath.
